Children's Privacy Notice
Policy version: 2026-06-02
Effective date: June 2, 2026
Controlling language: English
Language notice: The English version of this notice is the official and controlling text. The Ukrainian translation is provided for convenience. In case of any discrepancy, conflict, or misalignment between the English and Ukrainian versions, the English version prevails.
This notice supplements our Privacy Policy and explains how BRIGHT KIDS UKRAINIAN ONLINE SCHOOL LLC ("Bright Kids," "we," "us") handles information about students (children) when a parent or legal guardian uses the Bright Kids App.
1. Scope
This notice applies to personal information about children that you, as a parent or legal guardian, enter into the App under your account — for example when you add a student profile or register for a trial lesson.
The App is not designed for children to use on their own. Children do not create accounts or sign in independently in v1.
2. Our Commitment Regarding Children
- We do not sell children's personal information.
- We do not share children's personal information with third parties or affiliates for advertising, marketing, or profiling.
- We collect only what is needed to help the school schedule classes, recommend suitable courses, and communicate with you about enrollment.
- The App is ad-free and does not use cross-app tracking of children.
3. Compliance
We design the App for adults (parents and guardians). Student data is entered only under a parent or guardian account after explicit in-app consent. We do not collect personal information directly from children through the App.
We aim to comply with applicable children's privacy laws, including:
- The U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) for children under 13 in the United States, to the extent applicable to our parent-directed, no-child-login model
- GDPR Article 8 (and equivalent UK rules) regarding children's data in the European Economic Area and United Kingdom, where applicable
- Applicable requirements under the Law of Ukraine "On Personal Data Protection" for our diaspora community
Where applicable law requires verifiable parental consent beyond an in-app checkbox, the school may request additional verification outside the App as part of enrollment. Our in-app consent mechanism alone may not satisfy all legal standards in all jurisdictions.
4. What We Collect About Students
| Information | Why we collect it |
|---|---|
| Child's name | Identification for enrollment and scheduling |
| Date of birth or age | Course level fit, age-appropriate offerings |
| Level / interests (optional) | Course recommendations |
We do not collect from children directly. We do not ask children for contact information, photos, or social media accounts through the App.
We do not record or store class video or audio through the App. Live classes, if you enroll, take place on separate platforms chosen by the school, which have their own privacy practices.
5. How We Use Student Information
Student information is used only to:
- Help you register interest in courses and trial lessons
- Allow school staff to schedule and prepare for classes
- Communicate with you (the parent/guardian) about enrollment
We do not use student information for advertising, behavioral profiling, or sale to data brokers.
6. Parental Consent
Before you save student information in the App, you must check a box confirming that:
- You are the parent or legal guardian of the student(s) you add, and
- You consent to collection and use of their information as described in this notice and our Privacy Policy.
We store a record of your consent (policy version, timestamp, and account identifier) for compliance purposes.
If you do not consent, do not add student profiles. You may still browse public information in the App without adding students.
7. Parental Rights
As a parent or guardian, you may at any time:
- Review student information in your account
- Correct inaccurate information in the App or by emailing us
- Delete student profiles or your entire account (Settings → Delete Account)
- Withdraw consent for further collection by deleting student data or your account
- Contact us with questions or complaints
Email: school@brightkids.online
If you withdraw consent, we will stop collecting new student information and will delete existing student data in our App systems as part of account deletion, subject to legal retention requirements.
8. Service Providers and School Records
Student information is stored in our account backend (Firebase) and may be included in trial registration emails sent to school staff via our secure form pipeline (Netlify + Amazon SES). These providers act as processors under our instructions and may not use student data for their own marketing.
Once trial or contact information is delivered to school email inboxes, it becomes part of school administrative records. The school controls retention of those emails. Deleting your App account removes data from Firebase but does not automatically delete copies in school inboxes. Contact school@brightkids.online to request deletion from school records where applicable.
See the processor list in our Privacy Policy.
